"So what is the real deal with the web hosting companies that provede a "FREE" domain when you sign up with them?"
Well, I can't speak for all of them, but I can definitely tell you about the personal experiences I have had prior to starting Lauts Unlimited.
There are quite a few hosting companies will give you a "FREE" domain when you sign up for hosting services with them. What they dont make clear is that they actually OWN the domain that you register, not you!!
They usually hide this in theor TOS (Terms of service), but who really ever reads that document completely?
What happens when you try to move your domain to another hosting provider? Well, since you do not actually own your domain, you can't. Not unless you now pay a little extra, sometimes as much as $100.
Here at Lauts Unlimited - we don't play those games. We don't try to hide the cost; or recoup them later on. When you register for a domain with us, you own it. You can do whatever you want with it.
